What are the groups or efforts that you support? I've read your "bio" and like your work very much - particularly the bold colors that you choose. One thing that I see we have in common is that we each began with a very "practical" focus - you in political science, I in statistics. I'm actually still working in that field, but feel a strong draw toward art and non-profit work. Please let me know if you have ideas for discussion topics. I plan to update this board regularly becuase it's purpose is to actually incite change for the better. Thanks so much for joining!Cortney | | | | Cortney Romeril said at 1:51pm on November 9th, 2007 | I have been brainstorming for several months on ways to use my paintings to benefit the causes that are important to me. One common option is to donate profits to a charity. I'd prefer something that requires more personal involvment though (on my part AND on the part of the customer). For example, I am very involved in homeless animal initiatives in my community. Rather than sell a painting, and donate the money to a shelter, I'd like to try something like: - partner WITH the group so that funds can go directly to them, rather than to me personally - host an event including local artists who are all donating work for a common cause, combining awareness of local artists with awareness of a needy cause - etc. Please share any ideas here. I envision this board eventually including several independent discussions - some on tips and ideas, others with more focus (perhaps including artists within a specific region who would like to work together for a local cause).Thank you for visiting! | | |
