| Artist News: "An artist explores a range of styles" | | | | "an artist explores a range of styles" | |
| | | | | Luke Terpstra said at 10:13am on November 13th, 2007 | The Daily Local News, West Chester, Pa.....2/18/2005 "An artist explores a range of styles" ..by John ChamblessWEST CHESTER - Janeice Silberman is a relative newcomer as an artist, and you can see her trying out various styles and techniques in her debut show at the Sunset Hill Fine Arts Gallery (23 N. High St., West Chester). The regimented still lifes of scallions and the two vivid red-pink rows of flowers in "Valentine" reflect her background as a designer. In these and other works, it?s color and pattern that are the point.Elsewhere, her "Firedance" is a subtle and graceful semi-abstract of a Native American figure with dark hair emerging from sinuous lines of smoke and haze. Her greenish yellow "Fireflies" looks a bit more like an apocalypse, but her experiments with pointilism ("Tinted Land" and "Mosaic Gardens") are more satisfying. Her eight portraits of dogs have some nice points, and the abstract "Coffee Bean" is an intriguing puzzle. You get the sense that Silberman is joyfully experimenting, stretching her wings. The good thing is that she has so many avenues she could pursue. The exhibit continues through March 5. The only thing I might add, was the fact that I have been painting for well of 15 years.....so the idea that I was a NEWCOMER, as the article says.........is not exactly right. That is why I now have a great deal of smaller paintings up on my website...in the Gift category. | | | | Abstract Art By Sharon Cummings said at 7:37am on November 14th, 2007 | Good Luck Janeice! | | | | Janeice Silberman said at 12:08pm on November 14th, 2007 | Sharon, Thank you........as ever you are so gracious! | | |
