Who will decide such a thing?

Please everyone cut then paste this sentence below then send to BG 'contact us' (Please visit I love boundless -more important than color changes, for more info on this discussion)

"We believe that Boundless Gallery should be a family friendly site and that pornographic images have no place on the front page or in general circulation within the site."

I just had the one year anniversary of my blog, www.carolnelsonfineart.blogspot.com. It has proved to be invaluable for my internet sales. In my blog I post several new paintings a week. I post paintings in progress. I discuss techniques.
What does all this art talk do? The reader/buyer gets to know me. It makes the buyer more confident that I am a "for real" artist and an honest, hardworking one too. It takes a leap of faith to plunk your money down to buy a painting that is a few inches big on your computer monitor.
Of course, BG does everything they can to make the buyer feel at ease. Most of my internet sales are not through BG, however, so I have to prove my credibility. My blog does that.

I have been doing a type of video blogging. I load my video's to my blog at myspace and if people havn't seen my video channel they can still see what I have been doing and what I am up to. If that generates more sales is hard to tell, because I don't spend that much time at that site. I spend most of my time on online gallery stores and video channel. I hope to soon be doing a live studio show too.

I think that blogging can be profitable only if your readers are the right kind of people for art marketing. The content of the blog must keep attracting the type of people who buy art. Many of my local clients have demanding job (that's why they have money to buy art) or children to take care of and do not have time for reading blog or anything.

Blogging for networking and exchanging information with other artists, on the other hand, may be beneficial to learn about how other artists are marketing their art.

In my case, 60 percent of marketing information come from local friends (we drink and eat together) who are professional marketers of other things than art, but their experience and opinion can be applied to art marketing.

The rest of lead comes from reading books related art marketing. Also, there are non-profit organizations whose missions are promoting art, and they host a lot of good seminars locally for a very small fee.

I was a blogger for a while, but I didn't see the benefit of it so I do only monthly newsletter, which is the best thing for me because people enjoy it so much and looking forward to my email. I get a lot of business opportunities through my newsletter.

I am new to selling art online (as well as selling art in general!) and I would like to know if blogging is a useful marketing activity.

I have been getting back to posting better in my blog, http://paintwithbarb.blogspot.com/ I am not a great writer but if I just try that is better than not doing anything. I do have a link to boundless everywhere including my blog. I been posting about new paintings and my classes, and photos of my students with their paintings.
