Hi everyone, a quick note to let you know that my myspace account has been deleted for censorship reasons.

I will probably start again eventually but I am feeling a little burnt out about it right now. I am also working on getting a statement from Myspace about artistic nudity. once I get that I will probably cause a stink because I think they are too high and heavy handed with their censorship. my work gets deleted but porn stays up? homophobic stuff stays but openly gay bands are deleted? it's just wrong.

I think A D Ashley Dietrich also got her myspace deleted on March 2nd, 2008. It sounds like a lot of work to start it over.

Thanks for the heads up Jennie. Sorry to hear about that. It stinks in a major way. There is so much "smut" on there that stays, but artists get pulled.

One watercolor artist friend of mine had a single piece pulled because....it had 1/2 a nipple showing on his painting. Guess they got your whole account because all of your pieces are nudes.

I just went in and deleted the only nude I had on there. Would hate to get pulled for just one piece.

That's horrible Jennie, sorry for your troubles. Both MySpace and Facebook are starting to scare me with some of their recent practices.

I still haven't succeeded in getting ahold of a person at myspace, boy they love the bots though! I will still keep hammering on them though. this is important enough to keep on at. it really sucks that they are so high handed. I can't even message my friends to let them know what went wrong.

I have no idea how to start re-doing my site and re-inviting my friends. I'll probably try for some spin on it, but there are rumors out there that once a person has been deleted they are often deleted again and again until they give up.

This is a quote:

Customer service

To compound potential issues, MySpace has no customer service telephone number readily available for the public,[45] and contacting them for help via any other available corporate phone numbers rarely yields substantial results.

Jennie, I'm really sorry to hear about this. It takes so much time and energy to get your MS page put together the first time, I can't imagine doing it all over again. How frustrating.

What I think strange is that MySpace has only about 300 employees when 202,700,000 people have accounts as of March 11, 2008. It is 202.7 million accounts that I am talking about. And only 300 people work for MySpace to handle that? How strange! And 230,000 new accounts are born per day. I guess they might have gotten to a point where they just delete whatever without giving much thoughts to anything.

So unfortunate for you Jennie, but based on these things, I will make sure my page has no nudes. I do not allow HTML comments so no one can put porn on my page and anything will foul language in comments will get deleted. Sucks to have to be so careful, but I am up to about 20% of my income now stemming from My Space.

Thanks guys :) The only way to contact customer service is through email which pretty much goes through the computers and auto responders. I am stubborn though so I keep re-sending and re-sending. I think it is time that they made a statement on nudity and I will keep bugging until I get one. if I don't get a statement soon I have some other tacks to try.

amusingly, the responses I have gotten from the bots have been along the lines of check the T&C, these are the file types of images that can be uploaded, how to upload images, how to log in, and the generic disclaimer about account deletion. so how do they handle customer service with only 300 people? they don't.

I realize I could probably start a new page with no nudity and put a spin on it to get more traffic, but that isn't my style and I think it would be going against what I believe in. plus I just cant see re-inviting all those people. instead, now that I am out of the boat I am so going to rock it!
