Hey, thought it might be nice to talk about the paintings seen here, that have an immediate impact on oneself. So the artist can reply and talk about how they achieved it etc.
Sharon, love your 'Down The Rabbit Hole' paintins. Is it all painted, or partly collage? It is fascinating, though I can't work out why.

Vicki Marsango,
love your seascape paintings. They are extraordinary, especially 'discernment'. Are they all oil? What sort of mood or state of mind do you get into to paint them??

Hi Laurel,

Cool idea! "Down The Rabbit Hole" is an interesting piece indeed. It is a collaboration between myself and an artist named Jeraldine Gracia in Canada. We met on My Space along time ago. The way it worked was that we each sent eah other a pile of "stuff"....the rules were loose. So she sent me images from magazines, bits of weird fabric, etc. The only real rule was that we had to use EVERYTHING the other sent in the piece. She sent me A LOT more "stuff" than I sent her. She said I didnt have to use it all, but no way! I wanted the challenge. :) Hence the pile of "stuff" at the bottom. If you could view the original, you would see all sorts of interesting things in that pile. It is collaged with texture medium and then painted on top with acrylic. It sold almost immediately when I listed it. I wish I would have kept it now. But I do have prints.....LOL Since then I have created a handful like it. I do enjoy them.

What a fascinating story! What a great idea! Swapping material with someone you feel you have a connection with. I can understand how you would regret to lose the original in such a case.
It's funny because 'abstract' art just doesn't 'do it' for me. It doesn't seem to hit me on an emotional level, though I know it's very widely loved. But this just leap out at me. I think you should do more pieces like that. Art turns out to be such a personal thing, doesn't it?

It sure does. I consider these pieces to be "surreal" and not "abstract". Glad you like it!

yes, it is nice to talk about the paintings we love.....i like the painting 'three crosses' by Melinda Newman...it is natural and water color...it is so damn difficult to paint with water color....i like the way the sunshine is spreaded all around...the color green...it is a beautiful painting..the tree....the mountains....everything is so fresh!! i like all paintings from Tom Steck....they are so realistic....so down to earth....i like the pastel shades he uses....they are all so wonderful....honestly there are so many paintings to talk about ...it will be fun...:)

I agree with you Divya,
I like how you said 'it is so damn difficult to paint with watercolor' that made me laugh. Sometimes it is a nightmare. Sometimes some of the paper comes off when you try to remove some paint! Other times tonnes of paint seems to get stuck on the paper and won't budge! So, it's a bit hit and miss. And very risky. I continued with it eventually because I was so fed of the time that oil take to dry. I am more immediate a person than that. Oils take 3-6 months. And I just can't get my head around acrylic. Mostly because I want to paint with something earth based. Isn't acrylic plastic?? Never tried it. Should really.

Love John Earl's painting that's just sold 'standing muse' it's so harmonious and roundy and womanly. Is roundy a word??

true.....i don't like to be careful when i paint....and with watercolor one just can't help being careful all the time...the brush strokes, the paper, the water...intensity of the color...i love to paint with oil....but the weather here is very unappropriate for the oil paintings...drying problem in oil paintings is bad.....i want to try acrylic ...it is so tempting...till then water color is a challenge...!!
you should also see 'Golden Creek' by Virginia Haines...omg!! how did she do that...it is so beautifully done!! the trees...the path....everything is so nice....i actually feel like to have a walk on that path!!....i can sit and talk about all the wonderful paintings here the whole day doing nothing...it is so nice to talk about the paintings....i like the 'surrender' from John Earl!! very creative !!
