Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying spring. Spring has burst forth here in Switzerland, since we've had some really hot sunshine. I took these photos yesterday on my dog walk.
Does anyone love the 'Crape Myrtle' tree, like me? I've just bought another batch of seeds from America. Can't get them for love nor money here. I grew some sweet ones from seed last year, then I made the mistake of wintering them outside last year and killed them. I know they like medium winters and good drainage, any other tips?? |

Ah lovely to hear from you Sharon. Yes, messy, noisy, mentally disturbing for the artist I think ( or maybe that's just me)
Hope your family and doggies are well. Glad you've managed to escape to more peaceful surroundings. Enjoy your down time :) |

Hey guys!!! I hope everyone is doing well. I have been absent lately because my house is being remodeled and I am the "general contractor". So I am very busy with scheduling workmen/craftsmen, etc. I am also living in the house too, so it is messy, noisy and chaotic. Not exactly ideal for painting. So I am not painting right now. Commissions are on hold for at least another month. I have some waiting.....
But wanted to say: Hi!! |

Hey has anyone else got wall to wall rain at the moment? Here in Switzerland some of our roads are so full of puddles that we have to swerve to try to find the dry bits now, to avoid the huge puddles.
Hope all you friends are well. And enjoying the joys of spring. |

Hi Iris, Sound fabulous, can't wait to give it a try. Love the blocked energy thing. Yes, I think that must be what Yoga does, too. I think you are absolutely right about the blocked energy which slows you down.
I also think the same thing with the brain. My husband bought me one of those nintendo lite brain trainers and it's great. My brains been a bit sluggish these last few years I think. I've gotten lazy. And I'm now trying to sing really complicated 'scat' jazz melodies: so using that nintendo has really started to waken it up a bit. It's a real challenge, but fun. I listen to the most complicated melodies imaginable, then try to focus my brain on hearing the notes, then try to sing them! |

hehe, Laurel, thanks for saying I express myself well.... I guess I do ok in writing sometimes, but I wrote 'lecturing' because I meant it in the way of praising the practice whenever I talk to anyone about it... since more people know what yoga is today, it's easier, but if I mention tai chi or chi kung they may think it's some weird practice so I don't go on about it very much... :)
I didn't know you are a singer! DEFINITELY, if singing is in you, tai chi will help you release blocks, and flow with the practice. I find it helps me in painting, and I believe it will help you achieve anything that you feel you want to do but that some energy is blocked in your body or mind which slows you down! |

Hey Iris, thanks for the dvd advice on David Dorian Ross, will definately give them a try. For me singing in front of an audience is a stress, and I can see that something like ti chi is so calming. I think it wiould help me deal with that pressure. I copied your words from your post down here:
"wellness and overall well being. but these practices are less well known, so I 'lecture' about them less"
That's why I thought you lectured publicly :) Well, still think you'd do it very well, cos you express yourself so well. Maybe you should think about it??? |

Laurel, yes, I recommend David Dorian Ross, his dvd's are excellent! I still have his vcr tapes and use them! I took tai chi classes for a long time, but now I only practice at home alone, and with tapes/dvd. I recommend to start with his "AM Chi" tape, it's very easy Chi-Kung exercises and EXTREMELY beneficial for health and well being! once you practice this for a while and feel you like some variety and a bit more challenge, try "lower body chi" or any of his other tapes.
Why do you think I give lectures? do I sound like it lol? never gave a lecture in my life.... in fact I think I'm a bit challenged in the field of public speaking, or any kind of public performance, that's one reason I changed my occupation from music to painting.... |
