I'm curious, how many of you "do" high end craft/art fairs?

I haven't yet. Maybe someday and I could consolidate my photos with my artwork. I still have small kids to worry about and a husband with a busy schedule, so I don't have the time to dedicate an entire day or weekend. I'm sure their efffective if your price is right and the overhead isn't too bad. Getting the proper equipment for display is another investment I'm sure I'll later face. I would be nice to hear how they do...If their worth it or not.

I did two weekends at a local event this past fall. It was a lot of work and I found out after the fact that the key weekends were Labor Day and Columbus Day (so I should have booked those.) I know better for next year! I'm still not sure if it's the best venue for my work - but I thought I'd give it another couple of shots before I make my decision. I just about broke even with my last effort. One thing I did to save money on the display was use luan doors bracketed together for my "walls". This created a unique look that only cost me a couple hundred dollars.

Luan doors? What are those?

They are the light hollow core door panels you can get at Home Depot. I left mine the natural wood color because they would be less likely to show scratches and I thought the wood grain worked nicely as a background for my work.

Great idea, those typical walls for display are expensive--and bulky. I'm looking for the next great invention that offers a mesh wall which collaspes into a square:)

The luan doors are fairly light - but they don't collapse. We have a trailer - so transporting them was easy for us. My main reason for going with them was the $.
