Filomena- I agree!
Selling is the icing on the cake.
You aren't honored by selling - it's in the act of creating.
The freedom to express yourself brings such joy.
It's beyond therapy, beyond business, it's spiritual happiness.
That's all there is! |

Thanks for the invitation. This is an interesting group for me simply because I have never tried to sell my art at gallery. Can anyone share some more information about selling arts in gallery? |

Thanks for the invite Hengameh. I'm sorry I've been away for awhile but i'm back on boundless to stay. A lot of nice souls reside here. I have pondered your questions........I will say that I sell my art anywhere. I paint for myself and also for the world. I feel I have worthwhile things to say in my work and will continue to say them. Many people appreciate the opportunity to buy art, whether it's on line, a gallery, privately and so on. My work sells in galleries and privately. To be successful in these two ways is beautiful because these buyers hear what you're saying in your work. As for on line, I was on for a short time and will keep work on line now permanently until it's sold. There are people on line who hear the worthwhile things in the art. We must remember that. For those of us who are direct, honest and put sincere hard work into our material, we ALWAYS see great results. It's like positive energy. If this sounds deep or pretentious....I can offer no apologies.......I'm an artist, with all my quirks, moods and so on......but i'm honest in my art and the REAL buyers/Real art lovers see that. I wouldn't recommend anyone basing their success as an artist just on ON LINE ART SALES. Of coarse, this is just one artist's opinion. As for a co-op gallery....i've never used one. Yes, there is often an enormous amount of foolishness and snobbery in the art world, but such is planet earth. Sometimes we must trudge through this to get to the gems.......that's okay--it builds character. :) If work has backbone--it'll sell ANYWHERE. As for politics in art, I don't do political art--I do art that celebrates nature and the human spirit, but alas, we come back to planet earth stuff again. I will keep on looking at trees and paintin' 'em........lol! Have a tranquil day. |

Thanks for the invitation, Hengameh! I am in four galleries and have only sold two prints from one of them. The others have sold nothing for me except one gallery owner who bought one for herself - that was a shot in the arm. But most of my sales have come from face to face contact with friends of friends and relatives. |
