We've got another round of contests for both customers and artists coming, but I'd love to hear any ideas you have.

How bout picking a themed painting. Where everyone paints a piece or draws or sculpts the same theme. Then there is a vote. My choice is a vote by other artists.I will say that I am enjoying this Black Friday contest. BUT I will not feel comfortable emailing my collectors all of the time for contests. I think I will limit it to 1 contest per year because I already send them emails when I have sales. I dont want to become a pest and have them start asking to "unsubscribe".

How bout a "Collaboration" contest? Artists pair up to create works and then all of the BG artists get to vote.

Maybe next year it should be a "Cyber Monday" contest as that is when online retailers have their biggest shopping day of the year: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071128/ap_on_hi_te/holiday_online_sales

Good ideas Sharon. Anyone think of creative ways we can get new buyers to the site?

Imagine if every artist on here joined My Space or Face Book and amassed friends and directed them here. Now THAT would get some great traffic to the site!! Come on everyone....those sites are FREE and there is no end to how you can market yourself on them. I am now doing Blog Auctions and making sales there.

I LOVE Sharon's idea for a themed painting. What about doing something like and donating a percentage of the proceeds of the paintings sold to a charity. I think a lot of art buyers would love that. Of course all of the artists that participate would have to agree.

How about a charitable one? everyone puts up a piece for auction with a portion of the proceeds going to charity? we could do a marketing drive centered around it and set it up in time for the holidays.. I have a themed piece I was going to put up that way for charity but it would be a lot of fun if a group of us did it all for one charity!

oops, I just noticed that the auction option has gone.. well, that kinda knocks that idea out! ;) still, a series of seasonal works set up for sale with a charitable donation from each piece sold and a matching marketing drive might go well... we can invite collectors and use facebook etc.. just a thought

I have 5 original oil paintings on canvas I will give to the first 5 people who make a comment on the SECRET painting in my gallery.
